Who Needs Hard-to-Fit Contact Lenses?

People with the following conditions are good candidates for hard-to-fit contacts:

  • Astigmatism: Astigmatism is a common refractive error condition that causes blurry vision. It results from irregularities of the cornea.
  • Dry Eyes: Most of us spend hours a day looking at the screen of our electronic devices. This can cause our eyes to blink less, resulting in fewer tears or poorer quality tears.
  • Presbyopia: Most people experience this condition after the age of 40. Presbyopia diminishes your focusing ability, such as reading the fine print.
  • Keratoconus: A condition where the cornea is so thin that it bulges out, leading to distorted vision.

Contact Lens Exam

Our optometrist can conduct a contact lens exam to check the health of your eyes as well as diagnosing any other conditions you may have. The exam is similar to a regular eye and vision exam but includes additional vision tests and a contact lens fitting. After your assessment, our eye doctor can fit you with the right hard-to-fit contact lenses for your eye condition. Measurements of the eye surface are taken so that the lenses fit well in your eyes. A sample pair is given to you to ensure your eyes can adjust to the lenses.

Contact Lenses We Offer

We carry a variety of hard-to-fit contacts such as gas permeable, piggyback, scleral, soft, toric, multifocal, and hybrid contact lenses. Each of our contacts is comfortable and easy to manage. If you have any questions about the types of lenses we carry, let our doctor or one of our optometry staff professionals know.
